Position Title: Laundry Technician
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Chief Engineer / Assistant Chief Engineer
Principal Responsibilities & Position Purpose
Maintain, repair, install, and test equipment and systems throughout the facility to ensure safe and proper operation. Inspect equipment and systems to identify hazards and defects, taking immediate corrective/preventive action to ensure the highest level of safety.
Essential Functions
30% – Attends to Guests’ Needs and Requests

Respond to requests throughout the facility to make necessary repairs and interventions, including the use of work tracking software and devices.

Accommodate requests in a timely and courteous manner.
-
Ensure requests are followed through and feedback on completed work is recorded.

Assist with banquet event setups where required.
30% – Carries Out Preventive Maintenance

Perform preventive maintenance and tests on systems, subsystems, and equipment, including disassembly, replacement, cleaning, and repair.

Inspect equipment and installations for diagnosis and troubleshooting.
-
Keep logs/check sheets of maintenance work for audit purposes.
30% – Repairs and Troubleshoots

Identify malfunctioning equipment and hazards using various testing devices.
-
Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment in accordance with diagrams, schematics, operations manuals, and manufacturer instructions.
-
Use hand and power tools as required.
10% – Repairs and Replaces Items, Fixtures, & Equipment
-
Maintain fixtures throughout the facility, replacing or repairing them regularly to sustain high operational standards.
Specialised Functions
-
Perform general repair and maintenance of laundry plumbing, electrical systems, and kitchen equipment using manuals and historical records.

Maximise the service life of clothes washer and dryer equipment by reducing downtime and performing preventive maintenance and cleaning of machine ductwork and related systems.

Maintain inventory of tools and supplies, ensuring they are in good condition.
-
Repair and maintain washers, dryers, extractors, condensers, pumps, blowers, presses, and other laundry equipment.

Conduct periodic inspections of laundry and dry-cleaning equipment; perform preventive maintenance on all laundry equipment, including electrical, mechanical, gas, and compressed air systems.

Clean, lubricate, and order replacement parts as needed to ensure effective operation.

Perform repairs and replacements on electro/mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.
-
Troubleshoot using schematic drawings, conduct operation analysis, perform corrective repairs, and provide operator training.

Replace faulty components such as bearings, motors, micro switches, pipes, valves, and fittings.
-
Respond to 24-hour emergency calls for urgent repairs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as skilled labour, preferably in building or hospitality sectors.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
-
Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.
-
Flexibility to work varying shifts.
Education

School Certificate or equivalent preferred.
-
Certificate or Diploma from a recognised technical institution.
