Position Title: Carpenter & Cabinet Maker
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Chief Engineer / Assistant Chief Engineer
Principal Responsibilities & Purpose

Maintain, repair, install, and test equipment and systems to ensure safe and proper operation.

Inspect equipment and systems to identify hazards and defects, taking corrective or preventive action promptly to maintain safety.
Essential Functions
30% – Guest Requests
-
Respond to guests’ repair and maintenance requests using work tracking systems.
-
Address requests promptly and courteously, recording feedback on completed work.
-
Assist with event setups as needed.
30% – Preventive Maintenance
-
Perform preventive maintenance and testing on systems, subsystems, and equipment.
-
Disassemble, replace, clean, and repair components as required.
-
Keep maintenance logs for audit purposes.
30% – Repairs and Troubleshooting
-
Identify malfunctions and hazards using testing devices.
-
Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment per diagrams, schematics, manuals, and manufacturer instructions.
-
Use hand and power tools as needed.
10% – Fixture & Equipment Repairs/Replacements
-
Maintain and replace items and fixtures on a routine basis to uphold 5-star standards.
Specialised Functions
-
Maintain, repair, and build wooden fixtures and furniture.
-
Install and repair cabinetry, shelving, skirting boards, doors, frames, staircases, and other woodwork.

Fit fixtures such as door handles, locks, and railings.
-
Replace damaged wood in floors and decks.
-
Use carpentry tools to cut and shape wood, metal, and other materials.
-
Inspect wooden structures and conduct repairs or maintenance.
-
Build scaffolding and related structures.
-
Apply skills in related trades such as plumbing, painting, tiling, and plastering.

Perform related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Assist other departments when needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Minimum 2 years’ experience in skilled labor; building or hospitality experience preferred.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and building plans.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in challenging environments (heights, confined spaces, awkward positions).

Flexibility to work varied shifts.
Qualifications
Education: School Certificate or equivalent preferred; technical certificate/diploma from a recognized institution is an advantage.
Licenses/Certificates: None required.
