Job Description:
Primary Purpose:
To provide high-level, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients within Intensive Care Units (ICU), Coronary Care Units (CCU), and Emergency Departments (ED). The role includes patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, often in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care in critical and emergency settings.
- Monitor and assess patients with life-threatening conditions.
- Operate and maintain advanced life support systems and equipment (e.g., ventilators, infusion pumps).
- Administer medication and intravenous therapy in accordance with care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals in patient care.
- Respond to Code Blue and other emergency calls.
- Educate patients and their families on condition, treatment, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Postgraduate qualification in Emergency Nursing (preferred but not mandatory).
Registration:
- Current registration with AHPRA (Australia) or NCNZ (New Zealand).
- Eligibility for working rights in Australia or New Zealand.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-registration experience in critical care.
- Completion of Advanced Life Support (ALS) training.
Preferred:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Critical Care Nursing.
- Experience in ICU, CCU, or ED.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems (e.g., Cerner, MedTech).

Salary Range (2024–2025 Estimates):
Australia (AUD):
- Base Salary: AUD $70,000 – $110,000 per annum (based on experience & location)
- With Overtime/Shift Allowances: Up to AUD $130,000
New Zealand (NZD):
- Base Salary: NZD $68,000 – $100,000 per annum
- With Overtime/Shift Allowances: Up to NZD $120,000
Note: Salaries are generally higher in urban and remote areas due to demand and incentive allowances.
